Electric Solar Panels or otherwise known as photovoltaic modules, at this moment are the most popular type of the renewable energy technologies for home owners. The photovoltaic module is the smallest unit in a PV array, and is easily replaced when performing maintenance on solar panels. 

The output of the electrical PV module depends on the size and number of cells in the array, how they are electrically connected and the conditions of the environment that the array is located in. Solar Electric Panels come in all shapes and sizes including the newest technology of the Solar Shingles. 

Sunlight has had a large influence in building design since the beginning of semi-modern architecture. The Chinese and the Greeks were among the first civilizations that oriented their buildings to the south to make use of the warmth and light of the sun. Solar energy and shading are always important factors to consider when thinking of implementing solar electric panels

Passive solar orientation is one of the main considerations in design when building the earth ship type structures that are common in the US, New Mexico area. Most recently solar design has been taken over by computer modeling incorporating solar lighting, heating and ventilation into a complete solar package. 

In the US and UK the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) of our homes and businesses account for 40% on average of the energy that is used. Solar electric panels can be used to offset or negate most or all of these costs.

The first solar cell was constructed by Charles Fritts in the 1880’s, although the original design used selenium which was very inefficient, the discovery nonetheless was the beginning of a technology that might just someday solve the worlds energy woes. 

The earliest known use of the electric solar panels was with the Vanguard I satellite for power, which allowed the satellite to continue to transmit for over a year after the initial battery was exhausted. 

The promotion of solar power generation is just now coming into the mainstream as a result of the rising costs of energy. There are two main areas of solar energy science that are being concentrated on at the moment, one is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, while the other is the collection of sunlight and conversion into heat.

At this day and age the US and UK cannot reduce it’s carbon dioxide emissions without utilizing some type of renewable energies. The problems in the past for implementing these types of technologies have been cost prohibitive. 

The way the markets are set up with manufacturing, salaries and the politics of business, the solar technologies have not made sense for the everyday consumer. More and more citizens such as you and I are taking it upon themselves to research these technologies on a personal basis and come up with cost effective and working systems. 

There is a wealth of information that is available that takes one, step by step, using everyday supplies that are easily attained to build homebrew electric solar panel systems that work well. 

No longer is the solar technologies monopolized by big corporations, and are available to anyone that has the desire to become less independent on others for their energy needs.
